You don’t need to be invited to become a Freemason — you simply need to ask.
This is one of the most common misconceptions about Freemasonry. Many good men, myself included, believed for years that you had to be personally invited or approached by multiple members before you could even consider joining. Because of that misunderstanding, many men delay a journey they may have been ready for much sooner.
The truth is simple: Freemasonry requires that a man ask of his own free will and accord. That first step must come from you.
Once a man expresses interest, he will then require two sponsors to sign his application — not as an invitation, but as a way of vouching for his character and intentions. It’s about ensuring that the values of the Craft are upheld and that the lodge remains a place of trust, integrity, and brotherhood.
If you’ve ever been curious about Freemasonry, know this:
No invitation is needed. No pressure is applied.
Just a sincere question — and an open conversation.
